ZUMBA
Ditch the Workout... Join the Party! Zumba combines high energy Latin and international music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It’s based on the principle that a workout should be “FUN AND EASY TO DO” in order for Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness program to achieve long term health benefits. An awesome cardiovascular workout, Zumba is not only great for the body; it is also great for the mind. It is a, “Feel happy workout.”
PILATES
Ready to hit the mat? These classes will introduce you to the fundamentals of Pilates: controlled breathing, postural alignment and neutral spine. You’ll also work on strengthening core muscles and body awareness during your workouts. Pilates is the perfect blend of increasing strength and flexibility. Join us! No experience is necessary.
SPINNING
Spinning is an aerobic exercise that takes place on a specially designed stationary bicycle called (obviously enough) a spinning bike. As you pedal, motivating music plays and the instructor talks you through a visualization of an outdoor cycling workout. During the class you vary your pace -- sometimes pedaling as fast as you can, other times cranking up the tension and pedaling slowly from a standing position. This helps you to focus inwardly and work on your mind as well as your body. Spinning burns serious calories (about 450 in 45 minutes) and offers an awesome aerobic workout that makes your heart pump fast. It also tones your quadriceps (front thigh muscles) and outer thigh muscles like nobody's business! Because you stay in one place with the same basic movement throughout, Spinning doesn't involve a lot of coordination, it's easy to concentrate on your form. And although you follow the general instructions of the spinning teacher, you are in control when it comes to your pace. You can finish a spin class, regardless of your fitness level, simply by adjusting your pace or the tension knob on the bike.
YOGA FLOW
Yoga Flow is a class suitable for all levels that incorporates the Vinyasa technique. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. Vinyasa’s strength is in its diversity. There is no single philosophy, rulebook, or sequence that a teacher must follow, so there is a lot of room for individual personalities to come through. If you enjoy having things a little loose and unpredictable and like to move, Yoga Flow is just right for you.
GENTLE YOGA
Gentle Yoga is a class structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. This class is held at a slower pace and focuses on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension from joints and muscles.
BODY SCULPT
Work your arms, legs, back, chest, shoulders, and core! This total body workout is not a cardio class per se, but you will keep moving from one exercise to the next. Strengthen and tone your whole body in one class while you burn calories and fat. This class uses a combination of dumbbells, steps, body weight, balance exercises, circuit training, and floor exercises to strengthen and tone everything. We try to make every class different… We keep you on your toes and make it exciting!
SENIOR FITNESS
This is a total body conditioning class offering exercises for the upper and lower body designed to increase muscular strength, improve range of motion, and to help improve daily living!!! Resistance tools and a chair for seated and standing support are used to increase the effectiveness of functional skills and abilities needed for independent living.
BOOT CAMP (The only class with a minimal fee / other classes are free with membership.)
Our Boot Camps include a combination of interval cardiovascular exercises with resistance training. There may be some form of running, plyometric exercises, treadmills, sprinting, or bikes, as well as, body weight exercises, such as push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges, and TRX suspension trainers. In addition to using machines, free weights, and resistance bands, we also use other unique forms of training with heavy chains, kegs, tires, and weighted ropes. Afterwards, the boot camp session will finish some gentle stretching and cool-down exercises. The class will continually “shock” the body as research demonstrates that this is the most efficient and effective way to improve your cardiovascular system, lose fat, and build muscle. If you are getting a little board with your routine, this group dynamic is an excellent way to help increase your motivation. Have a great time exercising, but with a little social support, friendship, and camaraderie from other participants. This class is designed to push people a little bit further than they would normally push themselves in the gym alone, but with the idea that everyone involved works at their own pace.
